How to Stop Your Cravings for Good
By Genevieve Cunningham
Among the most frustrating parts of a diet are the cravings that often accompany it. You cut out sugar and fried foods. You’re rocking along like a pro. And then a craving pops up out of nowhere, threatening to ruin your health, diet, and weight all in one go. It’s horrible! If this sounds a little too familiar, check out these tips for beating cravings and staying on your healthy diet for good.
Drink More Water
You can’t live without water, and once you understand the benefits that come from drinking water, you won’t want to! Water helps you feel full, flushes toxins from the body, and can move along digestion. It’s a great tool for a healthy diet as well as for beating cravings. Try drinking water before and after every meal, and sipping on some all day long. It can also be helpful to add a little lemon, as this aids in detoxifying the body and also gives your water a little kick.
Eat More Protein
Protein is so good for your body. It helps build muscles and burn fat. It is known for its ability to keep you feeling full. And for many people, it also helps to stop cravings in their tracks. How do you get more protein? You can go for the staples like chicken, beef, other meats, and eggs; you can also opt for choices such as nuts, quinoa, or milk. If you want to feel the benefits fastest, opt for a protein heavy breakfast, and you may find your cravings diminished all day long.
Reduce Stress
Cravings can be triggered by excess stress. Do your best to build a stress-relieving routine, and stick with it. Take a walk or run at the end of the day, get a massage, soak in a hot shower, or do some yoga. Just find something that helps to keep your stress levels at a minimum, and use this to fight off cravings before they even hit.
Cravings can ruin a diet and spin you down the wrong path quickly. Beat cravings by being conscientious and using these tips. It’s OK if you need to indulge from time to time, but protect yourself, your health, and your diet by keeping the cravings under control. With some diligence and some patience, you may be able to beat the cravings for good for a wonderful and long lasting diet to enjoy in your healthy lifestyle.
