Your Spine and LEGO: Why Alignment Matters
By Krista Elliott
As a mother of two boys, I have resigned myself to my house looking like a LEGO factory. It's a go-to present for Christmas, their birthdays, and more. Sometimes they'll get the pre-designed sets, but I always prefer it when they just rummage through the loose blocks and build something from their imaginations.
A couple of weeks ago, my eldest was building a Star Wars LEGO kit; it was the Rogue One Imperial Assault Hovertank. He was having a heck of a time with one part: A slender connection between one section and another that kept falling apart. Upon further inspection, I had diagnosed the problem: He hadn't squared up his pieces or snapped them on fully. They were sort of crooked and not connected the way they should be, creating weakness to the whole structure.
Your Body's Building Blocks
When it comes to our joints and spine, things aren't all that different. No, we're not as cool looking as a Star Wars Imperial Assault Hovertank (at least, I'm not. You might be). But our spines are also made up of their own unique kind of building blocks: Our vertebrae. And those blocks provide the structure and support for the rest of our body.
So, what happens when some of our blocks aren't positioned properly? Well, that's when we have problems. Spinal subluxations can affect your entire musculoskeletal structure, causing pain, problems with your balance and gait, and interference in the functioning of your nervous system.
Use the Force (But Not Too Much)
Fortunately, chiropractors are to spines as master builders are to LEGO: Experts who know exactly how to put things in the best place.
The chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic will assess not only your area of discomfort, but also your entire frame and gait, to determine the root causes of your pain. Then, with precise and gentle adjustments, they help to restore your joints and spine to their optimal position. The result? You may find yourself experiencing an improvement in your pain, along with a stronger stance, more balanced gait, and an improved sense of well-being and comfort.
With over 370 locations nationwide and no appointment necessary, there's no reason why you should miss out on getting your own "blocks" aligned. So no matter what pain you're experiencing, come by The Joint!
That is ... unless your pain is from stepping on a LEGO block. There's really no help for that one.
