It's Easy to Eat Healthy
By Sara Butler
Eating healthy is important to your health. You may know this. Still, you may struggle with making good choices. Hey, it’s understandable. Life is busy and sometimes it’s easier to hit your local fast food joint than to go home and create a meal that’s good for you. There’s something you need to know, though – there are easy ways to eat healthy. Here are some tips to help get you started.
Be Repetitive
It’s OK to eat the same thing every day. In fact, studies show that you’ll have more success keeping your routine healthy if you’re a bit more monotonous about your food. A recent study out of the University of Buffalo found that people who consumed the same foods for five consecutive days actually ate fewer calories overall than people who didn’t. So, the lesson to take away from this is that if you find a healthy dish you like to eat for lunch every day, go ahead and eat it!
Use Salsa All the Time
Condiments have a way of being sneaky, and they can sneak unwanted calories and fat into your otherwise healthy eating plan. One condiment that is the exception is salsa! You can use it on meat, in salads, on vegetables, and on eggs. The sky is the limit. Salsa is usually very simple to make and low in calories, but it packs a big flavor that won’t make you feel like you’re missing out.
Have Carbs
That whole no carbohydrate thing? It’s so over. Carbohydrates are back in a big way, and your body needs them to function at its best. Good carbs are good for you because they help you to crave less of the bad, highly processed stuff. They’re a great source of energy and they make you feel satisfied mentally, which is one of the biggest struggles when it comes to eating right. So, stock up on sweet potatoes, brown rice, and quinoa!
Don’t Force It
If you hate a food, then don’t force yourself to eat it. If you think kale is a minion of the devil, then feel good about leaving it off your plate. You’re doing a huge disservice to yourself by trying to force things that just won’t work. It will only leave you feeling unsatisfied. So, work on finding healthy things that you do like!
