Are You Ready to Get Off the Couch to Get Moving?
By Sandy Schroeder
Winter slows everything down, but spring gives us fresh options. If you are ready to get moving, it may be time to check everything out at your local chiropractor’s office.
Before you head out to bike or hike, stop in at The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you. The Joint’s licensed chiropractors can help you assess where you are physically, and where you need to be.
Seeing Your Chiropractor
After reviewing your daily routine and health history, your chiropractor may use a spinal adjustment to evaluate your spinal health and provide pain relief for any problems that you are having. Your chiropractor helps to achieve pain relief for all sorts of body issues. Pain in the back, neck, knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows and wrists can be caused by joint restrictions that may respond well to chiropractic adjustments.
The adjustment is a gentle application of a targeted movement to improve range of motion in the body’s spinal column and extremities. You may experience pain relief and an overall sense of well-being with more energy and less stress.
As you and your chiropractor assess your results, you can start figuring out what you need to do next.
How to Get Moving
This may be the time to start morning walks or evening runs (with your doctor’s approval). Or you may want to build exercise into your day with brief morning and afternoon sessions.
Rethinking your work schedule to reduce long sitting sessions could work, too. In the winter, it’s easy to get into a work/sleep/work some more routine. Breaking out could boost your mood, and improve your work effort. One of my friends says she has her most creative ideas when she is out walking. Getting away brings everything into focus.
Losing a few pounds, eating healthier, and spending more time unplugged from electronics could put you in shape for that wilderness hike or special camping trip you want to do.
This may be a good time to bring the family in for individual health profiles. Kids will be getting ready for spring sports. Your spouse may welcome some stress reduction tips, and seniors in your family may need help with arthritis or sciatic leg pain.
Before you head out, stop by The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you. The Joint’s affordable care packages eliminate the need for insurance. Weekend and evening hours are available, and walk-in visits are welcome. No appointments are needed.
