3 Ways to Cook Eggs for a Little Breakfast Variety
By Genevieve Cunningham
Eggs are an excellent breakfast choice. When prepared properly, eggs are especially healthy, providing both healthy fats as well as a boost of protein. But some find eggs to be a little boring. Fried, scrambled, boiled … it gets old! Luckily, there are so many ways to cook eggs that your breakfast never has to be boring again. To get some healthy eggs in your breakfast without dying of boredom, check out these delicious recipes.
Make a Breakfast Taco
Technically these eggs are scrambled, but you’ll add quite a few foods with them to make it diverse. Scramble up your eggs with a little cheese, onion, bell pepper, chili pepper, spinach … whatever suits your taste buds. Then warm up a tortilla, throw the eggs inside, and enjoy a slight spin on your scrambled eggs a few times a week.
Egg in a Hole
This is a fried egg, but it’s cooked right in the middle of your toast. You’ll just make a piece of toast, and then using something small and round to cut a circle out of the middle. Put your toast in the frying pan, and then crack your egg into the circle. Let it cook. When it’s finished, you’ll have an egg and toast that are a little seared together. Every time you take a bite, you’ll get a nice crunch from the toast as well as some hot and rich yolk from the egg. Yes, it’s just a fried egg and toast, but it will feel different, and even taste a little different with this presentation.
Whip It in Your Oatmeal
Oatmeal is already a healthy breakfast. But you can make it a little more calorie and protein dense by adding an egg. Cook your oatmeal normally. Right before you’re ready to take the oatmeal off of the heat, crack an egg and whip it around. It will cook quickly, and it will also mix into the oatmeal nicely. The texture will be ever so slightly different, but not enough to make you cringe. You can do this with an entire egg if you want the calories, or even just the egg whites for a low calorie, high protein addition to your breakfast.
Who says that eggs have to be boring? Use these options to get in your eggs without risking the problem of a repetitive diet. These recipes are delicious, healthy, and bring a little more fun to your mornings. Give them a try, and enjoy.
