3 Tips for Managing Time and Being Productive
By Genevieve Cunningham
One of the hardest parts about working is using our time wisely. Whether we’re literally on the clock or we’re working on our personal goals at home, managing time is incredibly difficult. And with the constant influx of new distractions in our world, wasting time is becoming more of a staple in our everyday life. If you’re ready to take back your time in order to improve your quality of life and productivity, take a look at these time management tips that work every time.
Prioritize Your Tasks
Not every task that you have set before you is of equal importance. If you have trouble with time management, try getting things done according to their relative importance in your life. In order to do this, you have to determine what’s important and what’s not. Write down all of your tasks and then put them in order from most important to least. Then tackle the top of the list and work your way down. Because the really important things will be done first, you’ll feel as though you have more time on your hands as the list moves downward.
Get More Sleep
It’s really difficult to get things done when you’re tired. If you’re having trouble managing your time and tasks, try getting more sleep at night. Go to bed a little earlier and spend more time working in the morning. If you’re not getting enough rest, you won’t be able to focus on the task at hand, which undoubtedly just puts you further behind. Give this technique a try, and you’ll probably be quite surprised at the positive impact that it makes.
Eliminate Distractions
Distractions are the first step toward procrastination, and we’ve already established that procrastination is bad for time management and productivity. If you want to get more done in less time, eliminate as many distractions as you possibly can. This includes your phone, the computer, and even other people. The more focused of an environment you can create, the more you’re likely to get done, which creates more time later on in the day.
Time management is a tough thing to learn. We all struggle with it from time to time. But with the right approach, you can gain your time back. Use these tips and you may be able to get back on top of your own time and improve your productivity and happiness just a little every day.
