3 Ways to Improve Your Health From Your Bed

By Genevieve Cunningham

Most people want to have better health. They want a low body fat percentage, a healthy heart, strong lungs, and an overall sense of wellness in their life. But it can be tough to find the time and motivation to make these things happen. If you need a simple way to boost your health, take a look at these three tips that work without ever having to leave your bed.

Sleep

Many people will be glad to have another reason to go back to sleep. As it turns out, sleep is one of the best things you can do for your health. Most people are aware that they're not getting quite enough shut-eye, but they may not understand the negative impact. A lack of sleep can lead to aches and pains, trouble with focus, and a weakened immune system. If you really want to improve your health without getting out of the bed, roll over and go back to sleep.

Meditation

Many people picture beads hanging from the doorway, smoke drifting from the room, and men sitting cross-legged on a pillow. But this image is not necessarily meditation. Meditation can be done anywhere, and this includes your bed. When you first wake up in the morning, take some deep breaths and allow thoughts to just roll through your mind. Silence as many as you can by focusing on each breath. This is a simple form of meditation, and it can bring benefits such as lower blood pressure, improved focus, and a sense of calm that follows you all day long.

Stress Relief

You know that relaxed feeling that comes over the body when you fall into bed? Yeah … that’s stress relief! Alleviating stress on a daily basis is important for both physical and mental well-being. How can you do this? By lying in the bed without any electronics, stretching out the muscles, and breathing in some long, deep breaths. Once you’ve calmed yourself, listen to some music, watch your favorite show, or read a book. Making some sort of wind down routine in your bed can lower your stress, which ultimately improves overall health in a big way.

If you want to improve your health, but you’re not terribly keen on making a new gym routine or radically changing your diet, try these little tips that can be done in the comfort of your own bed. Sometimes it only takes some very minor changes to get your health moving in the right direction. Give these a try, and feel better than ever in no time at all.
