5 Exercise Classes to Keep Exercise Fun
By Virginia Laird
There are times when exercising can seem like a drag. It is during these times it is paramount to find a way to bring back the fun in working out. When a person has a difficult time having fun while working out, it can be easy to get discouraged and stop. A few classes gaining steam in the fitness community that can add fun to exercise include:
- Yoga
- Spin
- HIIT
- Zumba
- Boot camp
Yoga
Yoga is different from any other class, in that it is slow paced. It uses a variety of stretches and poses to challenge the muscles while teaching participants to meditate and focus on breathing. Most people who take a yoga class would agree that, although it doesn’t seem like hard work, it will have each participant sore the following day.
Spin
Spin class has become a favorite among many gym-goers. This class is a low-impact and high-intensity class. Those who choose to participate will use a variety of speeds and resistance tensions to work the legs. It is suggested that most will burn up to as many as 650 calories during a 50-minute class.
HIIT
High-intensity interval workouts are all the current craze in the gyms. The idea behind the workout is that intervals help to burn more fat, and tone more muscle than a longer, more steady exercise. Most classes are no longer than 30 minutes, making it easy to do during a lunch break.
Zumba
For those who may love to dance, Zumba is the class to try. This is a high energy class that teaches sequences of dance moves as routines that burn calories. Zumba is a great place for those who are ready to break a sweat and have a blast while doing so.
Boot Camp
Boot camp has been a class many swear by for years. The great things about boot camp is that it is unpredictable. Each time a person steps into class, the workout may be different. Those who choose to take the boot camp class should come ready to feel the burn.
If you need a class to spice up your exercise life, consider trying one of these. Not only will you be able to find a workout that is fun and exciting, many of these class goers become friends, giving you an automatic set of workout buddies to help push you along. And as your chiropractor will tell you, exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle.
