While a lot of people suffer from aches and pains, most of them can be dealt with.  As a matter of fact, most problems related to aging can be affected in some way by the choices people make and the lifestyle they live.  It might be better said that the lifestyle they fall into is the problem.  All too often, people don’t make choices about the way they live but allow choices to be made for them by their own lack of attention paid to important things.

Aging Occurs On Its Own

As people simply move into adulthood, a lot of things begin to decline in function.  Especially for men, as they near their 40s, they find themselves losing muscle and gaining fat.  Their waistlines expand.  This is usually accompanied by higher blood pressure and higher blood sugar.  The number of cases of type 2 diabetes has increased tremendously in recent years.  Cholesterol numbers have a great tendency to move in the wrong direction.  While this all sounds bad, much of it can be changed or controlled by changes in lifestyle.

Even Sedentary People Can Turn Over A New Leaf With Some Success

All is not a lost cause for those who have fallen into bad habits regarding eating and exercise.  Studies have shown that people who have lived very inactive lives for years can still make changes and see progress in only weeks or months.  Better eating habits, regular exercise, and quality sleep can all go a long way toward carving away years in terms of early aging.  Even things such as increasing the amount of water people drink can hydrate their cells more efficiently, helping the skin to appear less wrinkled.

What Can You Control?

Things such as bad cholesterol can be improved with the basics of better food and exercise.  In recent years, when I felt like I needed to improve my good cholesterol, I was able to do so by losing only a few pounds.  I had a double benefit since my blood sugar fell to the lowest level I can ever remember.  Exercise does not have to be heavy or long.  Regular is more important than intense.  It can pay off in helping muscles and joints to work better as blood flow is maintained.  If you have said you wish you could slow down your aging, now is the time to do it.
