Weapons to Fight Aging Are Not Guns

By Tom Herrin

While people may feel confident in bearing arms for protection, being prepared to combat aging is not so easy.  It may truly be a battle that is fought little by little in the trenches, so to speak.  There is no doubt that everyone ages, but some do so at very different rates.  While some seem to show signs of aging dramatically in things such as posture, skin, and response time, others appear to carry themselves well.  Studies have shown that those who have lived sedentary lives for years can still often make a difference in their aging by adding an aggressive exercise program.  Results can be seen in as little as weeks or months.

Anything Can Deteriorate Without Good Care

It is all too common for people to show signs of aging long before they really should.  In today’s society, there is an increasing number of people with type 2 diabetes, largely due to poor diet and lack of exercise.  The same can be said about blood pressure, cholesterol, and poor muscle development.  Too many people accept loss of muscles, increased fat, and that growing waistline as something that simply happens.

The Body Responds Well To Challenges

Many people sell themselves short when it comes to just what they may be able to do.  Exercise does not have to be heavy duty but should tax the body a little.  A good regular program can help prevent muscle loss and restore it in some cases.  It can also improve the body’s ability to supply blood throughout.  It is a known fact that exercise can improve cholesterol most of the time.  If done regularly, it can also improve sleep habits.  This may reflect in the skin.

Make Some Good Dietary Choices

It is too easy to give up and eat whatever happens to be easiest to obtain.  Making no choice can be the same as a bad choice.  A carefully planned diet can produce good results.  It has been proven that low fat diets can lengthen the telomeres.  These are a part of the genetic material that actually helps determine length of life.  If you want to slow aging, find a good exercise program today and get started.  Make some good changes in your diet.  You may win the fight against aging by adding years to your life.  It is a worthwhile investment.
