Easy Health Boosters that Take One Minute or Less

By Sara Butler

Making healthy choices is something most people think takes a lot of time and effort. Long workouts at the gym or hours of meal prep to make sure you’re fueling your body right do indeed take time, but there are small changes you can make to add a bit of health to your day that doesn’t take any time at all. In fact, there are few small things you can do that take less than 60 seconds! Here are a few things you can do to get healthy for less than a minute per day.

Drink Water

When you think of it, go fill up a glass of water and down it. Mild dehydration can cause your body not to work at its very best and can cause fatigue too, making getting through your day just a little bit tougher. Combat this by downing a glass of water when you feel an energy slump coming on!

Twist (Don’t Shout)

How many hours do you spend sitting in front of a computer per day? Well, those hours are probably having a pretty big impact on your overall health and well-being, also causing some problems for your spine if you’re not practicing good posture. To help combat this, do a twist!

As you sit at work, just twist your upper body to the left and hold for 30 seconds, then repeat the other direction. It’ll help you to feel better, so do it often!

Breathe Deep

You probably don’t think about the simple act of breathing too much throughout the day, but you should! If you need a quick pick-me-up during your day, then take a deep breath, or five. Slowly breathe in counting to 10 and then slowly breathe out as you count to 10 again.

Do Jumping Jacks

Long periods of sitting is just plain bad for you, so take a few minutes and do 20 jumping jacks in the middle of your day. It’s an easy way to get the blood flowing again and perk you up!

Get Outside

Vitamin D is an important part of your overall health and wellness, as it helps to regulate the immune system, it supports heart health, and can promote healthy aging. Yet many people are seriously lacking in the vitamin. The good news is it’s easy to get. Spending just a minute or two outside in the sunshine can help to boost your body’s production of the vitamin.

Boosting your health isn't accomplished with one thing, but many small things you do each day!
