3 Healthy Habits to Consider in 2018
By Virginia Laird
More than ever, people are taking a close look at their health and lifestyle choices. Some of these choices can prove to be detrimental to health and wellness. For those who have been able to identify habits which need to change, some healthcare experts have offered a list of healthy habits to consider starting in the new year. These habits include:
- Drink more water
- Stop being a couch potato
- Make time to grocery shop
Drink More Water
A sure way to improve your health is to drink more water. Research suggests that the vast majority of the public choose not to drink the recommended amount, opting instead for sodas, juices, and other calorie-filled beverages. It is recommended that you should drink at least half of your body weight in ounces each day.
Stop Being a Couch Potato
Get up and get moving. This is the simplest, surest way to make a positive impact on your health. Being a couch potato may sound wonderful, but laziness is difficult to overcome and can be the leading cause of weight gain. If you love the couch potato life, start slowly getting active again. Consider starting with a brisk walk in your neighborhood. If this doesn’t sound like something you are interested in, begin with light stretches. Just getting up and getting started on something active can reap a wide variety of benefits when it comes to your health and wellness.
Make Time to Grocery Shop
Although grocery shopping may not bring the most joy to your life, it is something important to your health. When you shop while in a hurry, you may be more likely to make unhealthy choices. Making time to sit down and create a grocery list based on a meal plan for a week can help you make more healthy selections while visiting the grocery store. If you don’t love grocery shopping, no problem! There are a variety of stores which offer online purchasing where all you do is stop by and pick up your order. This can still allow you to create your list based on your healthy meal plan.
Now all you need to do is select which healthy habit you can commit to and get started on a healthier you in 2018. Keep in mind that any change can be difficult. However, you can do it with determination and dedication to change. Make your new year the healthiest and happiest year with a few healthy habits.
