3 Healthy and Tasty Alternatives to Soda

By Genevieve Cunningham

Soda addiction is real. Even though we all know that we’re supposed to drink water, soda is just so good. It’s sugary and bubbly and caffeinated. It’s a hard habit to break. Unfortunately, if a real improvement in health is your goal, breaking the soda habit is necessary. In order to finally reach your goal and break the habit for good, take a look at these great alternatives to baby step your way to better health.

Tea

Tea comes in many different flavors. You can buy traditional black tea, peppermint tea, regular mint, chamomile, or hundreds of others. The options are seemingly endless. Tea is made mostly from water, which makes it a good way to transition to regular H2O. But it still gives you a kick of flavor, and you can add sugar if you're not quite ready to completely break free of the substance. Give it a try in place of your soda, and you will be one step closer to breaking the soda habit for good.

Fruit-Infused Water

Many people have never heard of fruit-infused water. This requires you to buy a special water bottle with an insert in the middle. You'll fill your water bottle with water and the middle insert with fresh fruit. Then you'll simply place the insert inside of the bottle. This allows the fruit juices to disperse in the water, thereby giving it a sweet and savory flavor. It's a great way to transition from something sugary and sweet to a more plain option of regular water.

Sports Drinks

It's important to note that sports drinks really aren't that great for the body. They still contain sugar, and they often have too many calories. But if you're given the choice between soda or a sports drink, the sports drink is often the better option. If you're really addicted to soda, then a sports drink might be the easiest way to back off. Switch to sports drinks, then switch to another alternative, until finally you've made your way all the way to regular water every day.

Quitting soda can be very difficult. It's addictive, and it just tastes good. But if you slowly transition yourself from soda to something else, it might make the process a bit easier. Use these alternatives to help you get moving in the right direction. It might take some time, but the long-term effects will be worth your effort.
