Follow a Healthy Lifestyle Pattern for a Better Heart
By Brandi Swieter
Heart health should be on everyone’s minds, as an unhealthy heart can lead to many complications in life. As people age, so does the heart, making it necessary to keep it as healthy as possible. By following a healthy lifestyle pattern, people can improve their cardiovascular health and reduce the risk for disease.
Engage in Activity
Physical activity is one of the best ways to get the heart pumping and working efficiently. Just 30 minutes a day is the goal to shoot for, and it doesn’t have to mean a hard workout either. Dance around the house, go for a walk at the park, play an interactive game with the kids. Any way to add activity to the day will be beneficial to the body.
Choose Healthy Foods
Fruits and vegetables will always be the best foods to have for the body. With added vitamins and nutrients, these health foods give the heart what it needs to fight off disease and keep the arteries and vessels unclogged so blood can flow freely. Fruits with antioxidants, such as berries, and those with healthy fats that can lower cholesterol, such as almonds, work best.
Keep Your Weight in Check
Extra weight can be hard on the heart, as it has to work harder to keep the body going. People need to do their best to keep their weight in check if they want to lower their risk for heart disease and heart attacks. The good thing is those who start adding healthier foods and more exercise to their daily routine should start seeing the inches shed. Weight should most often get based on age and height, as told by BMI charts.
Do Not Smoke
Smoking puts a great deal of stress on the heart. Those who do smoke should do their best to quit if they want to improve their chances of keeping heart disease away. Joining a support group is a great way to start the process, since individuals can see how others’ experiences have played out and receive helpful tips and advice on how to handle the process.
With just a few changes to your lifestyle, cardiovascular health can be drastically improved. Starting by simply adding more exercise to the day and choosing better food choices, people are already on the right track. Follow healthy lifestyle patterns for a healthier heart.
