Take Your Workout Outdoors and Try These Exercises

By Virginia Laird

There are many times while exercising that the workout tends to become monotonous. There are many ways to change this feeling, including taking it outdoors. Health and wellness experts advise that fresh air can offer the change of pace and scenery which can help you get excited about your routine again. Several gyms have even begun to offer Boot Camp, which is a class that many take outdoors. A few exercises to consider adding to your workout that can help you change it up when heading outdoors include:

  • Find some bleachers to run
  • Find a great incline at your local park
  • Jog on a track loaded with obstacles

Find Some Bleachers to Run

Like most, in my high school days I dreaded bleacher laps. However, I realize how important these can be to getting a great workout and appreciate the struggle. One of the benefits of running a bleacher lap is that it challenges the cardio system while toning the legs. If you are ready to tackle the challenge, this exercise can provide the burn. Make sure to begin slowly; doing too much can discourage you from following through the next day.

Find a Great Incline at Your Local Park

A great incline can be found almost anywhere. Hills offer some of the best challenges to help define the entire leg. Fitness instructors suggests that running inclines can be beneficial for the overall muscle tone and strength of the body. It is recommended that you begin your incline running on lower hills to prevent injury. Check the local parks to see if you can find a hill that may pose a fitness challenge for you.

Jog on a Track Loaded with Obstacles

Many jogging trails and tracks offer obstacles along the way. These can be a great exercise for those who want more than just a run. The craze of tackling obstacles has become a growing workout style. Many of the local trails provide these types of obstacles. It may be worth a visit to your local track and trails to find a course which you can love.

The next time you are ready to take your exercise outdoors consider these tips and start making your routine exciting. Stop procrastinating and get outside and start moving right away.
