3 Fun Workouts That You Can Do With Your Dog

By Genevieve Cunningham

Owning a dog is a lot of fun. They bring so much joy to our lives. They love us, and we love them just as much. And as it turns out, dogs may actually help boost our health. How? While there are many ways in which dogs might help us keep good health, one of the biggest ways is through activity. Dogs like to move, and that gets us moving, too! If you’re ready to take your best pal and get fit, take a look at these three great exercises that are even more fun with your best furry friend on tow.

Frisbee

Playing frisbee can be a lot of fun. And a lot of dogs really like this game as well. How does it work? You throw the frisbee as far as you can, and your dog will catch it in the air or go and fetch it and return it to you. So how does this get you any exercise? You might be surprised at the arm strength that it requires to throw a frisbee. And you may also be surprised at how often you move your body playing this game. If you want an easy and laid-back way to work out with your sweet pal, take a frisbee, go to the park, and enjoy.

Walking or Jogging

One of the easiest ways to get fit with your dog is to take them for a walk or jog daily. Whether you walk or jog is completely up to you and your dog. This allows you both to stretch your legs, work your muscles, and expend some energy. And either walking or jogging are both excellent ways to get fit. If you want one of the easiest ways to make a difference in both of your lives, this option may be the best bet.

Swimming

This may be a good option depending on the breed of your dog. Some dogs really love to swim. And if you like to swim too, then taking your dog for a dip in the pool can be really fun and an excellent workout. Swimming really tires the muscles and the body as a whole. By the end of your swimming session, both you and your dog will likely be exhausted. But you'll both also have burned a lot of calories, alleviated a few aches and pains, and had an absolute blast. Just make sure that you take a towel for both of you, as you won't want that wet dog smell to follow you back into your home.

Working out with your dog can be effective and a ton of fun. Use these fun activities to get started. If you make this a part of your life, it's likely to improve the quality of life for both you and your pet. So get prepared, get busy, and have the time of your life.
