4 Tips for Living Healthy This Summer
By Virginia Laird
For many, summer seems to be a time to put schedules, routines, and structure on hold. For some this may mean caving to whatever craving sounds good at the moment -- or even throwing some hygiene habits out the window. While many live a slightly different schedule throughout the summer, health and wellness experts suggest that removing all structure can hamper your health. There are a few habits which should remain unchanged. A few of these include:
- Always eat breakfast
- Eliminate some stress
- Get enough sleep
- Choose healthy meals
Always Eat Breakfast
There are many who find it difficult to eat breakfast, preferring to blame it on the idea of not being a morning person. Rather than allowing this excuse to keep you from choosing to start your day off healthily, it is best to figure out how to best implement this meal as part of your daily routine. If you are one who finds it a struggle to eat breakfast, there are a variety of meal replacement shakes and bars which still offer the nutrition needed to get your body functioning.
Eliminate Some Stress
Summer is a great time to relax and live slightly carefree. It is wise during the summer to begin spending time reducing stress. Many plan a long vacation. However, if you do not have too much time to spare, a weekend trip can do the job. Exercising daily can help reduce stress as well. Health and wellness experts advise that as little as 30 minutes of exercise three to four times each week can improve stress levels.
Get Enough Sleep
Throughout the summer, many feel the freedom to stay up later than normal. While this can be tempting, it is not the best choice to make. Health and wellness experts suggest that getting enough sleep plays a key factor in keeping the body healthy. It is advised that an adult should get at least six hours of sleep each night. Where there is a lack of sleep the body becomes more susceptible to illness.
Choose Healthy Meals
Consuming a well-balanced meal is the best way to ensure you are doing all you can to improve your health. Health and wellness experts suggest that a well-balanced diet includes a plethora of veggies and lean protein, which are often defined as chicken and fish.
With this advice in hand, you are ready to begin your summer on a healthy note. Happy summer!
