Why Keeping a Clean House is Healthy
By Virginia Laird
Keeping a tidy house is hard work and can be an endless, depressing battle. However, it is an important one to fight. There are times, in my home, when I feel as though the laundry will never be done and I will never see the bottom of my sink. Rather than allowing this to frustrate me, I decided to use this as an opportunity to teach my children why a clean home is necessary. Research suggests that a clean house can help promote good health and wellness. It can also help with mental clarity, decreased stress, and much more. A few reasons the experts suggest keeping a clean home is necessary include:
- Routine cleaning can keep away the germs
- Cleaning house limits allergies from attacking
- Keeping a clean house can provide some exercise
Routine Cleaning Can Keep the Germs Away
Keeping the house clean on a regular basis can help keep germs away. Consider all the places you and your family go daily. Each place offers a new variety of germs to bring home. Wiping down your kitchen and bathroom surfaces daily can help prevent the spread of these and other germs. Making sure to keep a clean house is especially important during flu season.
Cleaning House Limits Allergies from Attacking
If you are one who struggles with severe allergies, it is best to keep the house free of allergens. This is best done by routinely vacuuming and dusting your home. Allergies can be enough to interrupt daily life. While there is little which can be done to completely avoid such reactions, keeping the house free of allergens is a good start to preventing major occurences.
Keeping a Clean House Can Provide Some Exercise
Cleaning house can prove to be quite the workout. Where deep cleaning is required there is a great deal of effort and elbow grease put in. Scrubbing the floor, lugging a vacuum, and cleaning the walls of the home can prove to break a sweat for many. This can count as your cardio for the day. Although it may not be the same grueling workout routine you are used to, it can still be beneficial.
With this information in hand, it is easy to agree that a clean home can promote a healthy way of living. Now it is time to get the rest of the family convinced. Good luck with that!
