3 Ways to Limit Daily Anxiety

By Genevieve Cunningham

Anxiety is a real problem in our modern world. It seems that more people are suffering from greater levels of anxiety than ever before. We’re constantly on edge, constantly pushing ourselves to meet invisible goals, and constantly comparing our lives to those around us. And as a result, we’re feeling anxious all day every day. Even though this probably sounds like bad news, there is some good news on the horizon as well. And that good news is that managing anxiety is possible. If you need help getting your anxiety under control, take a look at these daily tips that might help.

Tell the Truth

We like to mask the truth. We like to say that we own more than we do, have more time than we do, and are more ambitious than what is true. Why? Sometimes it's because we want to impress; other times, it's because we're too afraid to turn something down. But truth be told, if you’re looking to lower anxiety, you should start telling the truth as much as possible. Can you take on more work? Actually no, I'm swamped! Can you make this meeting after hours? Actually no, I'm otherwise committed. Be honest. You may find that honesty comes with both freedom and far less anxiety.

End Procrastination Habits

Procrastinating is one of the worst things you can do when you have anxiety. The more you put off obligations, the more anxious you’ll become. When something comes up, make time to complete it as soon as you can. This is a really tough habit to create, but once you taste life without constant procrastination, you'll never want to go back.

Take Time for Yourself

We really don't make enough time for ourselves. And the constant push to do more is making us incredibly anxious. Instead of making more time for work, make some time for rest. Take a trip, go on vacation, or get in your bed and read a book. Allowing even a small amount of time for yourself can completely transform your anxiety and your life.

Anxiety is no fun. Though it’s normal to feel a little anxious from time to time, you shouldn't allow anxiety to rule your life. Use these tips to get a handle on your anxious feelings, and boost your mental and emotional wellness starting today.
