3 Tips for Being More Productive
By Genevieve Cunningham
Most of us thrive on productivity. We like to get things done, to check things off of a list. When we aren't productive, we feel unsuccessful and unhappy. While it's perfectly normal to go through periods of less productivity, if this inability to get things done sticks around, it could cause a problem. So what should we do in moments when our productivity is suffering? The good news is that you can make changes to get yourself back on track. If you need to improve your productivity in life, take a look at these helpful tips.
Keep Your To-Do List Short
If your to-do list is too long, it becomes overwhelming. It feels as though we’ll never accomplish everything on it, and this often leads to us giving up. If you want to get more done, keep your list at a healthy three to five items. When you check one off, you can add another. Or if you would prefer, you can finish the list from top to bottom before adding three to five new items. This allows you to prioritize, feel successful, and ultimately get more done.
Make a Better Schedule
Schedules are key. They help us stay organized and keep us on task. If you don’t have a schedule, it’s time to set one up for yourself. This will include a wake-up time and bedtime, a morning ritual, set lunch hours, and intervals of work. This allows our minds to focus on the task at hand, as we know what is coming next. This might take a while to create, but the end results will be well worth it.
Admit When You’re Being Lazy
We like to mask laziness with other words. I can’t focus. I don’t have time to finish this. I have to leave in a few minutes. The truth is that all of those small moments add up. If we use them instead of wasting them, we’ll get a lot more done by the end of the day.
Productivity is important in all aspects of life. Work, home, family, community. We need to be productive. If you’re having trouble being productive, these tips might help you focus and accomplish more. Use them as you need them, and make yourself more productive than you’ve ever been before.
