3 Ways to Eat Pizza Without the Guilt

By Genevieve Cunningham

Who doesn’t love a good, hot, cheesy pizza? It’s delicious! Many people love to order some delivery and put on their favorite new show on Netflix. But even though we love devouring the pizza in the moment, we’re not terribly happy about the calories that might show up on our hips later. Of course, like any guilty pleasure, giving up pizza altogether is tough. Luckily, there may be a compromise between giving up all pizza and eating an entire pizza all by yourself. If you’d like to have your cake (pizza!) and eat it too, take a look at these three ways to eat it without the guilt.

Learn to Cook

Almost everything is healthier when it’s cooked and eaten at home. If you really don’t want to give up pizza, learn how to make some healthy pasta pies in your own kitchen. You may be able to find a gluten-free crust recipe, a low sodium sauce, and toppings that are low calorie and low fat. There’s even a crust made from cauliflower! If you’re willing to get creative in the kitchen, you may be able to truly have your pizza with absolutely zero guilt involved.

Eat in Extreme Moderation

Pizza is generally a high calorie food. But if you eat it in extreme moderation, it may fit into your daily calorie total just fine. Fix a big salad with plenty of dark leafy greens, some fresh veggies, and minimal dressing. Then have a small slice of pizza with it. This keeps the calorie count much lower, but still allows you to enjoy a slice now and again.

Eat It for Your Cheat Meal

If you allow yourself a cheat meal, why not eat pizza then? Your cheat meal is supposed to be guilt-free. It’s supposed to be when you indulge a little bit. Plan your cheat meal a week or more in advance. When the time comes, throw your worries aside and eat to your heart’s content. The catch? As soon as your cheat meal is over, get back on track and stick to the plan in order to avoid weight gain or other negative side effects.

We don’t have to give up every delicious food in order to eat a healthy diet. It’s completely possible to enjoy your old favorites while sticking to a weight loss or healthy living plan. Use these tips to enjoy your favorite pizza dish without the usual guilt. With a little creativity and maybe some planning, you can live your best life, enjoy the best foods, and still be as healthy as ever.
