3 Habits You Should Change Now for Better Health
By Genevieve Cunningham
Habits are key in life. We have habits for everything. We have habits that involve work, habits that involve our families and home, and habits that revolve around our health. When it comes time to improve our lives -- in whatever way we see fit -- we often don’t have to look any further than these habits. But sometimes, getting started is the hard part. If we want to change our health, where do we begin? What habits do we need to change? If you’re ready to take your health in a positive direction, take a look at these poor habits that you should change right away.
Staying Up Late and Sleeping In
We all do it. We love to stay up late with junk food and Netflix. And then we either go to work the next day with too little sleep, or we sleep in too late and shuck responsibilities. Both of these habits are bad! If you want to improve your health, start with your bedtime habits. Go to bed on time and wake up on time. Though this can be a tough habit to create, most people are pleasantly surprised at how much this affects their health and their moods in a positive way.
Sweet Food Binges
Eating dessert once in a while isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But when we get on a sweet food binge, we’re bombarding our bodies with sugar and calories. Those who are in the best health avoid these binges as much as possible. It might take some time to kick the habit, but the effects on your health and weight will be well worth your trouble.
Late Night Snacking
Here’s the thing about late night snacking: we usually do it out of boredom. Most of the time, a late night snack isn’t consumed out of hunger. It’s consumed to have something to do. We can’t sleep or we’re watching a good show, and we need something to do with our hands. It fills an emotional void rather than an actual nutritional need. If you want an easy way to lose weight and improve health, start by nixing the late night snack and go from there.
Habits really make us who we are. And when it comes to health, our habits can make or break it! If these habits are a part of your regular life, do your best to nip them in the bud. You may find that avoiding these habits is enough to get your health and life pointed in a positive direction for a lifetime of better health.
