When you are under the weather, the last thing you may want to do is drink liquids. However, it is important that you are taking in fluids to stay hydrated and help boost your immune system. It is vital that you stay away from drinking large amounts of juices because they tend to be high in sugar.

Some options for staying hydrated when sick include:

  • Green or Ginger Tea
  • Broth (chicken, beef or vegetable)

Spicy Foods

If you are congested in the chest or nose area, it can make be hard to breathe, especially when you are trying to get a good night's rest. If you are trying to clear up your sinuses, eating spicy foods is a natural way to find relief.

While it is important to go to work every day, sometimes taking one day to just rest can make a huge difference. Resting can help your body relax and to gain energy that has been lost. Try to avoid strenuous activities.  You may also want to avoid working out during this time, to help stop the spread of germs.

Cleaning

If you cannot avoid stress because of work or home life, try to find ways to distress. Some activities that may lower stress include taking walks, yoga or mediation.
