Bad Day? 3 Mental Health Boosters for Tonight
By Genevieve Cunningham
Everyone has a bad day once in a while. Maybe you woke up late and were late to work. Maybe you got stuck in traffic. Maybe everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong, and now you're feeling incredibly frustrated. Whatever happened to make your day a negative experience, it's important to unwind and release all of that negative pressure at the end of the day. Doing so helps us maintain good mental health and gives us a fresh slate to begin the next day. But how do you do this? If you need some tips for letting go of a bad day, take a look at these mental health boosters to try tonight.
Read a Good Book
There's nothing quite like getting lost in a book. Choose whatever kind of book you like, then find a quiet spot, grab a blanket, and relax. Allow yourself to really get lost in the pages of the book. Get lost in the story, and let your mind wander. If you're not a reader, then you can do the same thing with a movie or TV show. The idea is to allow yourself to escape reality for a while, which can let you forget about the events of your bad day and get a much better night's sleep.
Get in a Jog
Exercise is a great way to relieve stress. If you've had a bad day, go home, put on some sneakers, and go for a jog. At first, it'll be frustrating. But it won't take long before the sweat begins to drip and the stress drips right along with it. If you don't like to run, you can substitute for a walk. Just make sure that you get moving to alleviate the stress of the day.
Take a Long, Hot Shower
There's almost nothing better than a long hot shower. The hot water releases tension in the muscles, relaxes your shoulders and back, and allows you to relax fully. It's an easy and affordable way to let go of a bad day. If you're more of a bath fan, put in some relaxing oils, and soak to your heart's content.
Don't let a bad day ruin your week or your month or your life! Let go of the stress and negativity that comes with your bad day, and keep your mental health safe. With the right activities in the evening, you can let your bad day fade away and prepare yourself for a much better day tomorrow.
