Water is the best thing to put in your body, which is why we should stay hydrated and drink enough water every day. While there are many other tempting beverages to drink other than water, this should be what you drink most often for your health. Before you complain about a health issue like headaches, fatigue or indigestion, think about if you are hydrated or not. There are so many things that could go wrong if you aren't replenishing and increasing your water consumption, it can make a massive difference to your health and wellness. If you are looking to increase the amount of water you are drinking and to enhance your overall health, here are some tips for you.
Reusable Water Bottle
First things first, invest in a reusable water bottle that you can easily take anywhere. This will not only save you money on buying water bottles, but help the planet in the process. Bringing this with you everywhere will be a constant reminder to stay hydrated.
Add Some Flavor
If you are getting bored of drinking plain water or looking for an extra boost, think about different fruits and vegetables to add to your water. Look up fruit-infused waters online and you will find plenty of options and pairings out there. Another option is to incorporate flavored sparkling water to trick yourself into thinking you are treating yourself.
Eat Hydrating Foods
Some fruits and vegetables are high in water content such as cucumber, watermelon, oranges, celery, and pineapple. If you are having trouble with drinking enough water, try incorporating some of these foods into your diet.
Track It and Set Goals
Set goals for how much water you are aiming to drink in a day and track to make sure you achieve those goals. You can incorporate this into your daily goals or in a planner to make it part of the rest of your to-dos. Making your goals visible and writing it down will make it easier to track.
Set Alarms
If you are having a hard time remembering to drink water set a timeline throughout the day and put phone alarms for each to give you reminders. If you stick with it, it will eventually make drinking water a habit and you won't need the alarms anymore.
One-to-One Rule
If you are going out or just drinking with a few friends at home, adopt the rule to have a glass of water in between every alcoholic beverage you have. This will keep you hydrated and limit the amount of alcohol you're consuming.
