For Long Rides, Be Prepared for Possible Pain

By Tom Herrin

A lot of people likely take sitting down for granted.  They usually think of that as what they do to rest and not something that creates strain.  That should be the case, but long rides can actually be a beating.  I have had my share of back pain resulting from such rides.  It is not that the seats or shocks are bad, but that it seems that holding still for such a long time lends itself to some jarring.  How many people have ended up with pain as a result of a trip on a school bus?  It can happen in a car as well.  If the ride you thought would be fun becomes a pain in your back, a visit to a chiropractor may put a little comfort back into the ride.

Why Back Pain?

Pain from riding may seem odd, but sometimes those long rides can tire the muscles to the extent that they become strained.  Riding over surfaces that may have sudden moves may cause a joint dysfunction in which pressure is applied to a nerve, thereby causing pain.  It may not be a sudden pain but one that is slow and nagging.  In my case, this was a pain that simply would not go away.

Chiropractors Can Relieve Pain

When people go to a chiropractor, they will usually be given an adjustment in which the spine is gently manipulated.  This can allow the injured joint to be restored to its optimal position.  This can relieve the pain.  Since this is all done naturally, recovery is often faster.  People may be able to return to their normal activities sooner.  No pain medication is needed so there is no risk of addiction or side effects.  The chiropractor may also suggest some exercises that can help to strengthen the muscles that support the injured joint.

Regular Visits May Mean Better Health Maintenance

Most people who experience the relief a chiropractor can provide enjoy the feeling and want more.  At The Joint Chiropractic, they have plans that can make that a reality.  No insurance is required, no appointments are necessary.  They are open days and evenings, weekdays and weekends at all of their more than 450 locations nationwide.  The next time you take one of those trips where back pain crowds your comfort zone, drop in at The Joint Chiropractic today and enjoy the ride with a little more confidence and comfort.
