Are Hard Floors Painful to Your Back?

By Tom Herrin

Many people seem to know what makes their backs feel bad.  Others may have no idea what the source of their pain, all they know is that it doesn't seem to go away.  It is often the result of some kind of accident, but it also may be something that occurs after a long period of strain that simply wears on the body.  Those who spend long hours standing on floors made of materials that offer no cushion, or flexibility, may find themselves in pain frequently with no other obvious clues as to what makes it hurt.  I have had this experience, and I found it to be extremely painful.  The only relief I found from this was through visiting my chiropractor.  If spending too much time on hard surfaces seems to go straight to your back, a visit to a chiropractor may have you enjoying life again.

What Happens

When people do something that tires the muscles that support the spine, they can experience strain.  This can leave the joints of the spine vulnerable to injury because of lack of support.  A joint dysfunction can allow pressure to be placed on a nerve and cause pain.  This pain doesn't often go away on its own.  Painkillers may simply mask the problem.  Even when people are off their feet, this kind of pain may seem to allow no rest.

Chiropractors Can Help

When people go to a chiropractor for relief of back pain, they are usually given an adjustment in which the spine is gently manipulated.  This can help the injured joint to be restored to its optimal position.  When this happens, the pain is relieved.  Since this is all done without the use of pain medication, it is all-natural.  This means there is no risk of side effects or addiction.  A return to normal daily activities may happen sooner.  Many times, the chiropractor will suggest exercises that can help to strengthen the muscles that support the injured joint so that another such injury is less likely to occur.

Regular Visits May Enhance Good Health
