It probably doesn't surprise you much when a yawn strikes midday. As a general rule, we're all walking around exhausted. We work too much, spread ourselves too thin with activities, and leave very little time for rest. But even if the actual feeling of fatigue doesn't surprise you, some of the reasons that it's happening might make you think twice. If you're sick of being tired all the time, take a look at these surprising causes so that you can make changes to finally get some rest.
Your Quality of Sleep is Suffering
Even if you're in bed for the recommended eight hours per night, it's entirely possible that the quality of your sleep is poor. It's possible that you don't get enough deep sleep -- the kind that allows your brain to fully rest. This might be the case if you have too much stress, have small children, or are surrounded by light or noise. Try to minimize these outside influences as much as you can, and your quality of sleep may improve drastically.
You're Addicted to Screens
Screens are great. We love them. But this love affair can turn sour quickly. Too much screen time has been linked to exhaustion and irritability. It interrupts our ability to sleep, and also strains our eyes. If you're on a screen all day at work, it's crucial that you get some screen-free time after work. Finding the perfect screen-life balance is an important step to getting enough rest and feeling energized on a regular basis.
You're Eating the Wrong Foods
If you're constantly eating junk, you may be seriously limiting your energy reserves. Junk food can make us gain weight and feel rundown. Why? Because it keeps us from getting the proper nutrients for efficient function. It might take some work, but if you improve your diet, you'll likely improve the energy that you feel every day as well.
Even if you've been tired for what seems like years, the pattern doesn't have to continue. Fatigue doesn't have to be a constant. You can break the cycle and improve your health.
