5 Things You Can Do Daily to Reduce Back Pain

By Stephen R. Farris

Do you suffer from back pain? Does it hurt when you wake up in the mornings? Maybe it hurts from sitting for long periods. The point is, back pain can be caused from many different problems. If the pain persists, it might be time to consult with your local chiropractor. If it occurs from time to time, there are a few methods you can try to also use on a daily basis to help prevent back pain.

Knee Pillows

Knee pillows are a thing. They're actually sold online and in many big box stores. But you don't actually need to go out and purchase one, any pillow will do the job. Just place it between your knees (works better for side sleepers). This technique will help take the pressure off of your lower back.

Strengthen Your Core

Your core involves your ab muscles, lower back and hips. The object is to exercise these areas to maintain a strong core. Doing so can help eliminate a lot of the pain you feel in your lower back and help you function better overall.

Take More Calcium and D

This powerful combo helps build strong bones and can reduce your risk of developing osteoarthritis. Calcium is available as a supplement, and is also found in dairy products such as milk and yogurt, and green, leafy vegetables. Vitamin D is abundant in foods such as eggs, fatty fish, beef liver and cheese, to name a few.

Try Different Shoes

Shoes can make a huge difference when it comes to cutting down on back pain. Wearing the wrong kind can make it worse. According to studies, anything with a heel over an inch is not good. Plus the insole should be comfortable on the feet, but not overly cushiony.

Posture

Practicing good posture each day can lessen back pain. When walking, do so standing straight, head high and chest out. Many people tend to walk with their shoulders slumped, causing undue stress on back muscles and joints. Always sit up straight when sitting at a desk or in your car.

When you do begin feeling aches and pains in your back, joints and neck, visit your local chiropractor, such as the ones found at The Joint Chiropractic. They have over 500 nationwide locations and no appointment is necessary, and walk-ins are always welcome.
