Things to Do If You're Stuck Indoors
By Randi Morse
Being stuck indoors can be very annoying, especially after you've gone through a long, chilly winter and you're looking forward to being out in the sun again. It's usually during this time of the year when I start running out of things to do. If you're dealing with some frustration from being stuck indoors for a long time, try one or two of these fun activities!
Get baking - How often do you actually have the time to bake? I know I love baking, and I especially love the results from baking, but I don't tend to have tons of time to do it. If you're stuck indoors on a rainy weekend day, have a bake-fest! A lot of baked goods, like chocolate chip cookies, freeze beautifully.
Plan your vacations - Ready to get out of the house? Start planning your vacations! If you're indoors and bored, take a few hours to write down where you want to go, then research it! The internet is a wonderful tool for this job and while you may not be able to pinpoint the exact amount that the trip would cost (prices do fluctuate), you will have a great idea of how much money you'll have to save in order to head out on a summer trip!
Movie marathon - When my children were very young, my husband and I would plan movie marathons because it was one of the few things we could do in the house in the winter months that was flexible enough to do with two young children. Have a movie marathon! Pick a series of movies, like the Harry Potter franchise, the Star Wars franchise, or the Marvel franchise, and start binge-watching them in order. Make sure you plan for this by getting some healthy and delicious movie-watching snacks.
Video chat - I live pretty far away from my best friend and any time I'm getting particularly bored or stir crazy, I give her a call. Video chatting is the best way to interact and feel like you're together. There were even a few times when we played cards over video chat! Utilize technology and allow it to help you escape your home, even if it's just virtually, to "visit" a friend.
The winter months will be over before you know it and soon you'll be so busy with summer activities you'll miss the days when you were able to lounge around indoors!
