3 Rules You Need to Keep Your Bed Clean
By Virginia Laird
Keeping your bed made and clean can have a big impact on your life, including your health and motivation. There is research to suggest that not only does washing your sheets keep you healthy, but those who take proper care of the bed (including making it daily) are generally more successful. Health and wellness professionals say that as you do all you can to maintain good health, it is imperative that you establish a few rules to help keep your bed clean. Here are three that you need to start today.
- Never make your bed a couch
- Always bathe before getting into bed
- Wash your sheets weekly
Never Make Your Bed a Couch
Treating your bed as if it were a couch can lead to a great many crumbs and germs building on your covers. Although you may not have ever thought about it before, sitting on your bed in the clothing you have worn all day can bring a host of germs to your bed. The next time you go to lounge on your bed as you snack or watch television, consider looking for a chair or choose the floor instead to help prevent germs from making their home on your covers.
Always Bathe Before Getting into Bed
There are many who choose to go to bed each night waiting to shower in the morning. Health and wellness experts say that this is a habit that can lead to increased blemishes. As you fall into your bed without showering, you are not only leaving all your dead skin cells in the sheets, but also the dirt, sweat, and grime from the day that can lead to a skin care nightmare. Start bathing at night to help prevent this issue.
Wash Your Sheets Weekly
There is reason to believe that washing your sheets weekly is good for your health. Although the vast majority would prefer never having to tear apart the bed, as it is a daunting and tedious task to make it again, it can be beneficial to your wellness. Even more important is keeping your pillowcase clean. Experts say that these should be changed two to three times each week to help manage asthma, allergies and prevent illness caused by bacteria. Start this week changing your health in a positive way by washing your sheets often.
Start making these rules a part of your healthy lifestyle to help promote your overall wellness.
