Staying Active in Warmer Weather
By Donna Stark
You guessed it! It's soon going to be that time of year again. The time when you start to ease up and kick back into relaxation mode. Summertime has a way of doing that to us, but one thing that you definitely shouldn't slow down is the level of exercise you get each day. Since most physical activities (outside of a gym) involve going out into the blistering sun it can be difficult to get motivated to exercise. That's why it's important to establish healthy habits now. Let's take a look at a few suggestions on how you can maintain motivation for exercise and stay healthy during the hottest season of the year.
Nurturing Motivation
One insanely difficult obstacle to overcome during your summer is the lack of motivation we have for exercise. However, exercise is crucial to keeping your body and your mind healthy. One way to maintain motivation is to make a plan. This can be done by using a calendar, an app, or even a buddy. Having it written down, getting a notification, or working out with friends or family is a great way to stay committed and dedicated.
Early Morning Exercises
Getting up early and beating the weather is one way to stay active and increase the time you spend exercising. The weather is cool and the conditions are perfect for a leisurely walk or a nice run in those early morning hours. It is also a great way to kick start your day and feel good about yourself. A morning fitness routine can help get your blood flowing and increase alertness for the rest of the day, so go ahead and give sunrise workouts a try!
Late Night Activities
Maybe waking up early is not your thing. Maybe enjoying your morning and taking it easy is more your fort. Well, if that's the case, no problem! Another great time to exercise and beat the heat is later in the evening when the sun goes down. Going on your run or walk late at night will keep you in shape and eliminate the need for excuses on why you shouldn't work out. It is a great way to calm and tire yourself right before bed.
Water Workout
If you are lucky enough to have your own pool, or if a pool is available to you, you may want to think about a water workout. Even though you will be in the sun, getting exercise in the pool is a fun way to stay cool and healthy, and on top of that, the benefits of water exercise are countless!
Summer Fitness Routines
Start your daily exercise habits now so that by the time summer comes around, you won't even think twice about them! Let's get rid of all the excuses and stay healthy, together!
