3 Weight Loss Tools You Didn't Know You Needed

By Genevieve Cunningham

Are you ready to lose weight? Of course you are -- we all are! Even though the vast majority of us want to drop a few pounds, most of us aren't as successful as we'd like to be. Why? Because it's hard. Luckily, there are ways to make it easier, and one of the best things that you can do is learn how to use helpful tools. If you're serious about losing weight and getting healthy, take a look at these three weight loss tools you didn't even know you needed.

Pedometer

A lot of people think that they're getting a lot of movement throughout the day. But as soon as you start wearing a pedometer, most people get a rude awakening. We don't move nearly as much as we think we do. And when we don't move, we don't burn calories. A pedometer can give you a rough idea of how much movement you're currently getting, and then help you get more by counting your steps throughout the day. You can get a really affordable version online or in a fitness centered store. If you're unsure about your movement, this might be a good investment.

Calorie Counting App

If you were surprised to find out how much you move (or don't), just wait until you find out how many calories you consume on a daily basis. Consider investing in an app that helps you keep track of your caloric intake. Most of us eat far more calories than we realize. Those tiny bites and little snacks add up quickly! Get a base for how many you already consume, and then make a plan of action. Set a calorie goal, input it into your app, and let it guide you toward better health and weight loss.

Scale

The recent advice surrounding scales is to just skip them. We've been told that they don't matter, that we shouldn't obsess over the numbers. While it's true that we shouldn't give too much thought and worry into the number on the scale, the tool itself can be helpful. A scale helps us keep an eye on small amounts of gain or loss. And to be honest, it's easier to lose five pounds than it is to lose 20 pounds. Use the scale, but don't obsess over it. If you consider it a tool and not a mirror, it will be easier to let it guide you to better health.

Weight loss can certainly be hard. If it was an easy task, we'd all be walking around in our best bodies. But we can make it easier on ourselves. Use these tools to help you along your weight loss journey, and you'll be more confident in your skin in no time at all.
