Looking For Nutritional Advice? See Your Chiropractor

By Stephen R. Farris

Have you been faithful to your exercise routine, yet still find it hard to shed weight? Maybe it's time to look into your diet. If you're eating the wrong types of foods or eating at the wrong time, then it's possible that's what might be slowing your progress.

Eating Speed

Yep, it's a thing! Research shows that eating too fast could lead to weight gain. Slow down your pace a little more to help your brain process what your hormones are telling it. Your hormones send messages to your brain, letting it know if you're hungry or full. The process usually takes about 20 minutes to receive.

Make a Shopping List

Before going shopping for food, you might want to start writing out a list at home before you go and stick to it. Shopping on the fly could cause you to pick out food items that basically are unhealthy, such as chips, sodas, and processed foods. So if you're trying to eat healthy, then write down the food items you need and try not to be tempted with the impulse items that can be luring. Another good idea is to not go shopping when you're hungry. Studies show that this could lead to impulse buying, rather than picking out food items that are better for you.

Drink More Water

Not only is water essential to your overall health, a glass before each meal can make you feel fuller faster and cause you to eat less at mealtime; as much as 200 calories per day less. Drinking water daily can help with weight loss and maintaining your weight.

Don't Drink The Fruit

Eating fresh fruit is much healthier than buying the so-called "100 percent fruit juice" you see in stores. The majority of those liquid-based fruits is the fact they're not always natural. They contain fruit concentrates or are loaded down with processed sugars. Plus liquid-based fruit juices could cause spikes in your blood sugar. Eating the real deal and digesting it slowly will help prevent those sudden spikes.
