Finding Time for Fitness When Life's Chaotic
By Brandi Goodman
Life can be a challenge at times. Some days, you're bombarded with tasks on your to-do list and don't seem to have any time for yourself. Even when life's chaotic, though, there's still ways to find time for fitness if you really try to fit it in.
Make It Part of Your Workday
There's lots of simple ways you can add in fitness. It may not be a full 30-minutes -- or even five -- but it can still add a couple minutes here and there of a faster heartbeat and blood pumping through your body. Park farther away from the entrance. Take the stairs rather than the elevator. Go for a walk on your lunch break. Do what you can to make small changes that will add up to a big difference.
Change the Way You Commute
Driving to work isn't going to burn many calories. Change the way you communicate if you can and find lots of time for exercise. Biking or walking to work are great options if you live nearby. You don't have to do it every day, either. Just make the change once or twice a week and gain the benefits.
Wake Up Earlier
If you want to fit in a full workout, try waking up earlier. It will take some time to adjust to the earlier waking hour, but will be well worth it to fit in a daily exercise routine. Working out can really help boost your energy and get your mind working well. It can help with focus and mental clarity to help you be even more productive.
Stay Active on the Weekends
Even if you really have no time to work out during the week, you can stay active on the weekends. Going for a long walk can make up your weekly recommended timeframe for exercise. The yard work you accomplish, housework you get done, and even dancing to your favorite music all counts as exercise as well. Do what you can to keep active and get in some fitness time on your weekends if you didn't accomplish any during the work week.
Life will almost always be chaotic. There will always be more tasks to accomplish, people to please, and work to do. Finding time for fitness is a necessary factor you have to consider. Exercise is essential for better health and mental well-being. Just do your best and find time for it where you can.
