A Little Bare Skin on the Ground May Be a Good Thing

By Tom Herrin

There is nothing that compares with the feel of your bare skin touching something it seldom touches.  That natural sensation is unique.  As far as that goes, many of us have probably had that experience when we were young.  Many boys often went shirtless, and just about every child spends a considerable amount of time running around with no shoes.  It wasn't necessarily magical, but it certainly was fun.  Most of the time, we may have felt like we had more energy and were less restricted as we moved around.  There may have been more to it that just an impression.  According to some studies, walking barefoot may have some useful benefits for our health.

Walking Barefoot May Support Good Biorhythms

A lot of things in our lives can have a big impact. Our biorhythms keep us on schedule.  They help us with eating, being active, and sleeping. When they are not correctly in sync, we may end up tired and unable to function well. It is believed that walking barefoot may help these biological clocks to work more efficiently. It is thought to have to do with neutralizing our electric charges. This is known to be a good way of improving health.

Walking Barefoot May Decrease Stress

Another thing that seems to be affected by some electric charges is our nervous system.  When things go bad, it comes under stress and gives us problems.  Our body produces cortisol which raises our general stress levels.  Apparently when we walk barefoot, which is considered earthing, we are able to relieve some of these charges.  This results in relieving our stress at the same time.  It may seem like a simple solution to a common problem, but if it works, why not try it?

Walking Barefoot May Give Us More Energy

When I think about it, I recall having a really good feeling anytime I went barefoot as a child.  It was one of those things that made me feel fresh and energetic.  It was always enjoyable.  It also made me feel as if I could do anything.  Maybe this was that burst of energy that I didn't recognize as such.  Either way, it is another good reason to try something different and inexpensive.  When I can do something for little or no cost, I never mind giving it a try.
