Helpful Hacks to Keep Your Body Moving Every Day
By Genevieve Cunningham
We live in a world of information. Anything that we could possibly want to know is available with the simple click of a button. It's great. But it also means that we have to step up our game just a little bit. We can no longer claim that we just don't know what to do -- especially when it comes to health! No matter where you get your information about health, there's no doubt that exercise will be high on the list of suggestions. Unfortunately, knowing that we should do something and actually doing it are two very different things. So how can we make it easier? If you need a little help maintaining regular movement in your life, take a look at these hacks to help you get moving in the right direction.
Get Comfortable
Movement is best when it's incorporated into our daily life. Maybe you take the stairs instead of the elevator. Maybe you walk to lunch instead of driving. If you think that these are things you can do, it's important to be comfortable. Make sure you're wearing clothes that allow movement -- nothing too tight or restrictive. Make sure you're wearing shoes that don't hurt your feet -- no heels or tight dress shoes. The more comfortable you can keep your body, the easier it will be to make movement happen as the day goes on.
Combine Tasks
If you're one who never chooses movement, it might be time to combine tasks in order to get it done. Instead of watching Netflix while under a blanket on the couch, do some squats and lunges while you watch. Instead of browsing your phone first thing in the morning, do a lap around your house while the coffee brews. This allows you to get more movement without more thought. If you're serious about making movement happen, combining tasks is a smart and efficient way to do it.
Ask Your Friends
Another great way to get more movement is to include the people you love. Ask your friends to go for walks with you. Ask for a date night where you go on a hike or a bike ride. Take your kids to play or to walk. Combining movement with the people that you love means you're more likely to do it -- and you're more likely to enjoy it as well.
Movement and exercise are key to living a healthy life. Our bodies want to move, and we'll feel better as a whole if we prioritize that movement. Use these tips to make daily movement a little bit easier, and enjoy the benefits of more activity in your life starting today.
