3 Ways to Easily Eat Less Every Day

By Genevieve Cunningham

Food is good. It tastes good, and it feels good when the day is over and your stomach is full. It's so satisfying. But the truth is that most of us actually eat a little too much every day. We eat when we're hungry, but we also eat when we're bored or when we're stressed or for a million other reasons. And as a result, many of us are carrying around a few extra pounds. If you're interested in losing weight, getting healthy, and managing your daily diet, take a look at these three ways to easily eat less every day.

Set a Time Limit

Sometimes the best thing to do is to set an eating limit. Maybe you don't eat before mid-morning, and you don't eat after mid-evening. Maybe you try to fast for a minimum of 12 or 14 hours through the night. Taking this approach often eliminates some snacking and unless you sit around and eat all day long, you simply don't have the time to overeat. If you want to make it simple -- no counting calories or keeping a food journal -- it might be best to simply start with a time limit and go from there.

Plan All Snacking

Most people enjoy snacking throughout the day. A quick snack gives us a boost of energy, it tastes good, and it gives us something to do. The problem comes in when we eat snacks that are unhealthy and high in fat and calories. If you want to enjoy your snacks but still eat less, you need to plan them beforehand. Buy plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, and portion them out into bags or containers. When it's time for a snack, you simply grab a pre-planned container. As long as you keep these healthy and small, you can eat a lot less with just a small shift in your daily snacks.

Set Your Portions

America is known for its large portion sizes. We want things to be big! Unfortunately, large portions lead to us taking in too many calories throughout the day. Over time, this means weight gain and poor health. If you want to eat less, you may need to limit and measure your portion sizes. Use a cup or a food scale to make sure you're getting just enough and not too much. And of course, don't go back for seconds. If you can get your portions under control, you can set yourself up for long-term success in your health.

Eating less is part of getting healthy. It's part of losing weight and improving overall wellness. But let's face it: It can be tough! Use these tips to manage your food consumption, and you'll feel better in your own skin and enjoy better health in no time at all.
