Get Better Health With These 3 Things Every Morning
By Genevieve Cunningham
Better health can feel like an impossible feat. It's so hard to lose weight, exercise regularly, and get quality sleep -- three things that are crucial for overall wellness. We're just so busy and exhausted all the time. How can we possibly make progress with our health? While it's true that it will take work, it's absolutely possible to improve your health, and it all starts with three simple steps. If you're ready to boost your health and start feeling better today, take a look at these things to start doing every morning to see your health take a turn in the right direction.
Drink Lemon Water
Most people reach for something caffeinated in the morning. Coffee, tea, Diet Coke -- these help us wake up with a little more energy. But as it turns out, we may not need caffeine in the morning. In fact, you can gain even more benefits to your health by drinking a bit of lemon water. Drinking water in the morning can give you a blast of energy because it starts the hydration process in your body. And by adding lemon, you'll encourage your body to detox through digestion. Finally, people who drink lemon water regularly often report glowing skin. With this one little habit, you'll feel better both inside and out.
Stretch
Stretching first thing in the morning is actually very natural. We often wake up and immediately stretch out the body. But what if we didn't stop at that natural reaction? What if we made a routine and followed it on purpose? Stretching will make our bodies more comfortable, invite oxygen (and therefore more energy) into the body, and keep us loose and limber throughout the day. Do this one activity first thing, and you'll be setting your mind and body up for success all day long.
Avoid Your Phone
Waking up and immediately picking up the phone is a common thing. We're addicted to the screen, the messages, the mindless scrolling of social media. In fact, we're so addicted that we reach for it automatically. But if you want to be happier and healthier, try to avoid the phone altogether. Going straight for the phone immediately raises our stress levels first thing. It's bad for our physical and mental well-being. It will take some self-discipline to break the habit, but once you do, you'll likely find that your mornings -- and the remainder of the day -- are both healthier and much more enjoyable.
It's not only possible to improve your health every day, but it's also simple. Is it easy? Not always. Making changes takes work and dedication, and that can be hard, but if you're willing to put in the work, you can really turn your health and life around for the better. Incorporate these tips into your life every morning, and you may notice an improvement in your mental and physical health right away.
