Listen to Your Body and Let Your Chiropractor Help
Some time ago, I watched a friend of mine upgrade her health and her life with a simple approach. She was always in the lead when it came to good ideas, and one of her best ideas was to use her chiropractor’s help to keep tweaking her body as she worked, exercised and played.
This lady is a very active person and her weekends are always filled with trips, hikes, Sunday sails and other fun getaways. Sometimes she would come back tired and happy, but report a few twinges that really needed attention. Instead of slowing down and just waiting out the pain, she visited her chiropractor. Getting back to work and keeping her regular schedule going got some immediate help.
She maintained regular visits with her chiropractor and they seemed to help her body meet the challenge. If you have a busy job and a busy life, you might consider my friend’s approach to maintenance.
I have known other active people who discovered the value of this approach too. One lady kept a full time job with long hours in addition to keeping each weekend free to work in her garden and play with her grandkids. When arthritic stiffness and soreness in her hands or lower back tried to slow her down, her regular chiropractor visits often helped to rescue the situation.
Another fellow was a dedicated fisherman, and he continued to go out on weekend fishing trips with the help of his chiropractor, some regular exercising, and some weight loss.
How the Chiropractor May Help You
The chiropractor’s goal is to help you maintain your activities and health without medications or surgery. The first visit includes a spinal manipulation to evaluate spinal health, followed by a discussion of medical history and daily activities.
If you are as active as my friend, you might want to consider regular visits. While you are there the chiropractor can also spot other areas you might need to work on, such as good posture habits, retooling your workstation to make it work for you, and relaxation and stress release options in yoga or Tai Chi classes. Weight loss and a healthier diet also come into play to supply all of the needed energy.
Wherever you are in activities, exercise, and work, a little extra help never hurts. If you are having serious pain issues in muscles and joints, see your physician, and consider seeing your chiropractor too to get a complete checkup.
